Outreach

Our attorneys are actively involved in several organizations and workshops that support and improve our community’s well-being. In an effort to reach out and create opportunities within our society, TCM has fully encouraged these initiatives over the years.

One of our firm’s Partners is a very active member of the Board of Directors and the Technical and Community Outreach Committees of the PR Chapter of an international organization known as the Interamerican Association of Sanitary Engineers & Environmental Science (“AIDIS-PR”). Established in 1948, AIDIS is a non-profit association that promotes awareness of the environmental, sanitary and health challenges of impoverished communities, and works closely with the governments of different nations in North, Central and South America to help execute concrete action plans to improve the environmental and health standards and conditions of economically deprived areas, and bring environmental justice to those communities. As a member director and legal advisor of AIDIS-PR, our partner has provided educational workshops in various Latin American countries to minority communities, local professionals and government agencies in an effort to promote models and sample programs of environmental, sanitary and health legislative & regulatory scheme.

Our attorneys’ individual involvement in the community includes, for example, the pro bono legal representation of indigent persons in family law cases, and representation of indigent mental health patients in involuntary treatment cases. Other attorneys actively participate in volunteering with educational entities which provide seminars and workshops free of charge to impoverished communities in different topics that affect them; are volunteers in organizations that prevent animal abuse in Puerto Rico and financially contribute to provide food and shelter to stray dogs; provide mentoring to Puerto Rican youth in risk of dropping out, early pregnancy and drugs; dedicate time to support religious initiatives; in addition to volunteering and contributing financially to an organization that promotes the rehabilitation of homeless individuals in Mayagüez.
